At Taverners Hill Infants School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.

After School Drama

Drama Scene runs after school drama classes for Kindergarten, Year 1, Year 2 from 3:25pm – 4:00pm on Wednesday onsite at Taverners Hill Infants. Steph Waites has run these classes at Taverners since 2003. They are very popular with our students. Students who need to attend TASK (after school care) are taken to the TASK room after the drama session.

• 3:25pm: Students are dismissed from their classrooms to the Taverners ‘Hall’ classroom for Drama Scene roll call.

• 4:00pm Dismissal choices are:

  • From the classroom door to an adult listed on enrolment form.
  • Escorted to TASK. Spots are limited – places are allocated in the order enrolments within payment terms are received by Drama Scene.

Drama Scene runs 8 x 35-minute sessions as a Term for Students in Kindergarten, Year 1, Year 2 at Taverners Hill Infants School (Yr 3 siblings & friends also welcome to attend).

Chess Club

Learn to be a chess champion! Coaching for students at Taverners Hill Infants School is held on Thursdays from 11:45am to 12:30pm. Learning and playing chess helps children develop their logical thinking and problem solving skills, improves their concentration and focus, while also being a great source of enjoyment. Activities include group lessons on a demonstration chess board or interactive whiteboard, puzzle solving and fun practice games. Students earn merit awards by making checkmates, or by displaying skills and positive qualities, which all good chess players strive to develop. Each student in the Chess program will also receive access to Chess Squad https://www.chesssquad.com/ which is an online teaching/playing platform.
